Ricardo Cabral is assistant professor and deputy-dean for the Madeira University and regular expert evaluator for the European Commission. In the past, he has been in secondment to the Portuguese Ministry of Finance, worked for a Germany-based multinational and consulted for the World Bank. He obtained his PhD from University of South Carolina, in 1998. He is an active researcher, having published on the Eurozone crisis and the international financial crisis. He has participated in several conferences and has an active media presence, having been interviewed by Expresso, Antena 1, RTP-M, Jornal de Negócios, Público, TVI-24, BBC World News TV, Radio France International, Associated Press and Bloomberg Business Week. In October 2011 he presented a testimony before the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the European Parliament within a Public Hearing.
