Institute of Public Policy releases here its third Policy Paper: Returns to vocational education in Portugal, by Sofia Oliveira.
With this paper we resume a theme Institute of Public Policy had touched upon in one of its first initiatives: the public policy of education. In this paper Sofia Oliveira contributes to the debate surrounding the expansion of job-oriented tracks in the Portuguese education system. Results show a wage advantage for workers with vocational education in the beginning of the career, but what are its long-term impacts? How does it affect the ability of the economy to adapt to a context of increasing innovation? This paper analyses the data and discusses the main policy options.
