Local Authorities: Democracy, Governance and Finance, the second edition of the Areté Collection, addresses the reality of democracy and policy formulation at the local level, with a focus on transparency, citizen participation and municipalities’ finances, as well as their social and economic functions.
Through a pluralistic view of the autarchic reality, it is hoped that local elected representatives, privileged agents of democratic dynamics, and municipal administrative technicians, who assure the functioning of the local administration services, as well as other stakeholders (citizens, companies, entities of external control, etc.), better understand the reality where they are inserted.
