Manuel Valente

Manuel Sá Valente is a full researcher at the Centre for Ethics, Politics, and Society at the University of Minho. Manuel received his PhD in Philosophy from the University of Louvain in 2022. He was based at the Hoover Chair in Economic and Social Ethics, where he continues as a scientific collaborator. He has also worked as a lecturer at Leiden University, UCLille, and UCLouvain, where he taught courses in Ethics and Political Philosophy. He has been a researcher on the Intergenerational Justice Index project since its inception. 

Manuel´s research is in political philosophy and focuses mainly on contemporary theories of justice, especially as they pertain to three groups: generations, age groups, and people with different lifespans. He intersects philosophical questions with various public policies, especially those related to work and free time. His writings on these topics have been published in international academic journals such as the Journal of Applied Philosophy, Politics, Philosophy and Economics, Ethical Theory and Moral Practice, Critical Review of International Social and Political Philosophy, Res Publica, among others.
