Ricardo Cabral
Expertise: public finances and good governance, European Union economic policy
Ricardo holds a Phd in Economics by the University of South Carolina,USA (1993-1998) and a degree in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Technical University of Lisbon, Portugal (1987-1992).
With twelve year international professional experience based in Germany, France, Brasil, and the US, he has held positions with budget and staff management responsibilities.
Currently holds a position as an assistant Professor at the Social Sciences Center, University of Madeira (Portugal), between 2008 and 2009 he was appointed secondment to the Ministry of Finance and Public Administration, Office for Strategy, Planning, Economic Policy and International Affairs (GPEARI).
Since 2001 he has been a regular expert evaluator for the European Commission Framework Programmes 5, 6, and 7: eTEN, eContent, IST, and RB-SMEs programmes.
His recent macroeconomic research focuses on the euro zone sovereign debt crisis, on banking, monetary policy, and on external debt crises. On account of his research he was invited to appear before the Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee of the European Parliament.
